14 Vegetarian Instagram Accounts to Inspire Healthy Eating Habits

The plant-based possibilities are practically endless.

Keeping up healthy eating habits—whether in the new year or during quarantine (when snacks are so, so tempting)—is easier when you surround yourself with people who inspire those habits, even virtually. Although these vegetarian bloggers are spread out all over the world, it will feel like they’re in your living room with you as they share recipes and tips for healthy vegetarian eating all year long.

Bookmark these in your browser and follow on Instagram for a steady stream of delicious inspiration. Bonus: Many of these vegetarian virtuosos have cookbooks too, so you can still make their recipes when you’re offline.

The First Mess

Laura from The First Mess brings us into her old farmhouse to share vegetable-heavy recipes through large and inspiring photos. Start with her Vegan Caramelized Onion Dip or Smoky Chickpea, Cabbage, and Lentil Stew with Kale.

A Couple Cooks

Sonja and Alex are a couple based in Indianapolis who share simple and nourishing recipes. Several years back, they decided to cut out processed and fast food from their diet and have since developed hundreds of whole-food recipes that they share over at A Couple Cooks. Try their Braised Vegetables or their Favorite Vegan Lasagna recipe the next time you have people over.

Sweet Potato Soul

Jenné Claiborne, creator of Sweet Potato Soul, is not just a source of great vegan recipes (like Vegan Burrito BowlsVegan Caesar Salad, and Vegan Sweet Potato Chocolate Muffins), but a huge help when it comes to meal prep and planning too. Check out her YouTube cooking videos for more.

Oh She Glows

Oh She Glows focuses on whole-food vegan recipes, but most are also soy- and gluten-free. That includes amazing desserts like Obsession-Worthy Peanut Butter Cookie Ice Cream, but filling meat alternatives (like the Ultimate Green Taco Wraps with Lentil-Walnut Taco Meat) are well represented too.

Oh, Ladycakes

Although Oh, Ladycakes is a baking blog, the recipes are as healthy as baked goods come, with the main ingredients being natural sugars and alternative flours. We’d recommend starting with Ashlae’s Whole Grain Caramel Apple Hand Pies or the Peanut Butter Cookies.

Sprouted Kitchen

The authors behind Sprouted Kitchen create accessible and delicious vegetarian cuisine. Their focus is often on healthy recipes that are ideal for entertaining, like their Flourless Peppermint Stick Cake or Berry-Ginger Cocktail.

Green Kitchen Stories

Green Kitchen Stories is a couple and daughter who share their healthy twist on vegetarian recipes. They have several cookbooks, like “Green Kitchen Travels” (with recipes inspired by food from around the world) and “Little Green Kitchen” (with a focus on kid-friendly recipes you’ll love to eat too), but you can also check out their recipes, like their Green Pancakes prepared three ways or this Spiced Parsnip Cake, for free on their blog.

Naturally Ella

Erin from Naturally Ella turned to healthy eating after watching her father go through numerous medical issues due to his traditional American meat-and-potato diet. Start by checking out her Barley Chocolate Chip Cookies or spicy Sweet Potato Galette.

Vegetarian ‘Ventures

Though I may be biased since it is my own blog, Vegetarian ‘Ventures is all about serving up delicious vegetarian recipes that focus on local and in-season ingredients, and is worth checking out; particularly if you like the sound of Savory Cheddar & Cornmeal Waffles or Salted Maple Dark Chocolate Raspberry Crumble.

[Ed. Note: Check out Shelly’s Pistachio-Crusted Tofu with Red ChimichurriSweet Cinnamon Fruit Dip, and Skillet Bagel Eggs with Lemon-Rosemary Butter too!]

Cookie + Kate is a vegetarian blog about a girl and her dog creating healthy habits in the kitchen. In addition to recipes (like Halloumi Tacos with Pineapple Salsa & Aji Verde), Kate also shares regular “What to Cook This Month” guides so you can stay on top of eating seasonally.

Oh My Veggies

Oh My Veggies is a wonderful resource not only for recipes, but also for learning more about vegetarian topics like the differences in tofu types and how to make rice out of cauliflower.

Love & Lemons

The Austin-based couple behind Love & Lemons are experts at turning traditional recipes into healthy, vegan versions that are just as fantastic. We’d recommend you start with the Vegan Mac & Cheese or the Chocolate PB&J Cups.

The Chubby Vegetarian

Husband and wife team Justin Fox Burks and Amy Lawrence offer a Memphis spin on meatless cooking with their popular The Chubby Vegetarian blog. While southern specialties such as Red Velvet Cornbread are their bread and butter they also cover the globe with recipes such as Young Coconut Ceviche.

Deliciously Ella

Over 1.7 million Instagram followers can’t be wrong. British sensation Ella Mills has helped bring plant-based living into the mainstream with her popular blogcookbooks, app,  product line, and even a brick and mortar London deli. If you can’t make it across the pond try preparing her stunning breakfast creations and savory specialties like this Jerusalem Artichoke Salad in your own kitchen.
