Are Quay Australia Glasses the Quay to Summer (and Beyond)?

Quay Australia (pronounced “key” as in 🔑) sells fashion-forward sunshades, blue-light-blocking glasses, and prescription glasses.

But they’re not fast fashion, oh no — Quay makes sunglasses that won’t break the bank (or break just from being looked at the wrong way).

Here are a few *quays* to success for shopping at Quay Australia.

What can you buy at QA?

Sunglasses

QA has sunnies for days. They offer polarized and nonpolarized options for men and women, and a handful of shade and blue light blocker options for kids 5 and up too. Some of the classic looks they offer include aviator, square, round, shield, and cat-eye.

On each product page, they share all of the specs on the glasses (bridge width, arm length, frame width, and lens height) in addition to where exactly the glasses fall on the spectrum of small, medium, and oversized.

You can filter by face shape, which makes it way easier to select shades that will look amazing on you.

They also offer a virtual try-on tool that gives you personalized insights about your face to make it even easier to find your perfect pair. When we tested it, we learned about our face shape and width, and the try-on tool worked like a dream too. It replaced all the shopping photos on the site with a photo of our lovely mugs sporting the glasses (and a video on each individual product page to check your angles).

We found our shady soulmates (After Hours in Tortoise Brown, if you must know). BTW: the try-on tool works with the prescription and blue-light-blocking glasses, too!

This is defo the future of shopping.

Blue light blockers and readers

Even if your vision is 20/20 (lucky!) you may want some blue light blockers, especially if you get a lot of screen time. *raises hand*

These glasses help filter out blue light waves associated with digital screens. Although blue light is also in the sun’s rays, excessive amounts of blue light from screens (especially at night) can interfere with your sleep cycle and your body’s natural melatonin production. So yeah, pass us the specs. The jury’s still out on whether blue light glasses actually help, but many people swear by them.

They also offer nonprescription readers with blue light filtering.

Prescription glasses

QuayRx offers some of Quay’s most popular looks as prescription frames. For a flat $95, you can get a pair of Quay frames outfitted with prescription lenses — all you need is a valid prescription. These lenses are blue light filtering and scratch resistant, and they come with a hard case and cleaning cloth.

Jewelry and accessories

Quay also sells jewelry and accessories, like glasses cases, lanyards, headbands, scrunchies, and face masks.

Does QA accept insurance?

Not exactly. They’re an out-of-network provider, so you might be able to get a reimbursement from your insurance company if they offer out-of-network benefits.

The great thing is that their $95 price tag for QuayRx includes frames and prescription lenses, which is a steal.

They also accept Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Spending Account (HSA) funds for prescription eyeglass purchases.

Price, warranty, and returns

At the time of writing, here’s what you can expect to pay for some Quays (unless there’s a sale):

  • Sunglasses: starting at $55
  • Prescription glasses: $95 for frames and prescription lenses
  • Readers: starting at $55
  • Blue light blockers: starting at $55
  • Jewelry and accessories: starting at $10

Standard shipping is $5 per order, but they do occasionally offer free shipping promos.

They offer a 30-day return policy for unworn products, and a 12-month warranty for manufacturing defects (90 days for jewelry).

QuayRx purchases also come with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

What customers are saying

Quay customers love their fashionable frames and accessories, and are impressed that the designer looks don’t command designer price points. In fact, Quay fans are FANS — lots of the positive reviews are from people who have two or more pairs of Quays.

However, the negative reviews on Trustpilot and BBB ding Quay for slow shipping, unresponsive customer service, and — in some cases — a disappointing product that didn’t live up to their quality expectations. Some people complain that their Quay shades have a strong plastic smell, too.

If you love the Quay aesthetic but the reviews have got you shaded out, definitely make a trip to one of their retail locations if you’re nearby so you can get up close and personal before shelling out the cash for a pair.

Order up: How to shop

Ordering is way easy. Make your selections on their website, complete the checkout process, and voila — your new shades should be at your door in about a week.

If you happen to live in or be passing through Cali, Nevada, Texas, or Florida, you can shop in-person at one of their retail stores, as well.

For QuayRx orders, you’ll need to make sure you have a valid prescription from an optometrist, and your glasses should be on your face about 2 weeks after Quay is able to validate your prescription.

tl;dr

Quay makes super trendy sunglasses, blue-light-blocking glasses, readers, and prescription glasses that are, TBH, cute AF. The virtual try-on tool makes shopping online a breeze, but they also have several retail locations across the U.S. if you wanna browse in person.

Reviews are kinda mixed, with negative reviewers most vocal about poor communication from customer service and slow shipping. Regardless, they deliver the luxe look without the luxe price.

Like DJ Khaled, we got the Quays, Quays, Quays…
